Heroes Fighting Hunger
Every donation counts!
Since 1989, when Sierra Hope was founded, we’ve offered a food pantry program. Initially, it was for our AIDS program participants but before long, we could see an overall need in the communities we serve and so we opened it to anyone who was in need of assistance.
In the past, we’ve relied on grants to fund this program, but this program has added stability to our Food Pantry Program – the Heroes Fighting Hunger program.
Sierra HOPE is seeking individuals who will commit to contributing $25 each month for one year or $300 one time annually. Because this is a program serving an important basic human need, the predictability this will bring to the food pantry's resources will add an important element of stability which is especially important as food costs have increased by 12% over last year.
The Sierra HOPE food pantry is open every Wednesday and is staffed entirely by volunteers, both bagging the food items in the morning and then distributing those bags in the afternoon. We serve between 70 and 100 families over the course of a month.
Our pantry offers a variety of nutritious foods every week of the year and during the holidays, we try to add a little extra cheer. Last year, we were able to distribute turkey roasts for Thanksgiving and Christmas as Sierra HOPE is able to negotiate special prices to make these purchases. Your generous support allows us to continue this effort.
The Sierra Hope food pantry continues to serve families each week.. To become a Hero Fighting Hunger for Sierra HOPE, simply sign up below with your credit card information and accept our sincere thanks for your support of this vital assistance.
